Northern Ireland WORLD OPEN Qualifier - Results
Snooker again was in full flow at the QE1 Snooker venue on Saturday 17th July 2010 for the World Snooker Open in conjunction with World Snooker.
Following a brief summer recess the cues came out of the cupboard for this special event giving the winner a chance to take on the top professionals. With some great snooker being played by everyone it wasn't long before the first upset of the day came with Raymond Fry of the Fountain Club Antrim, beating ex-professional Jordan Brown 3 frames to 2 in a match that also produced the highest break of the day from Raymond, a 112 total clearance.
The inform player of the day seemed to be Kieran McMahon from Newry, reaching the final without dropping a single frame. The big showdown then was Logue verses McMahon in the final with the winner going forward to this years World Open. Once again the Jimmy White of Northern Ireland Snooker Keiran McMahon had to make do with the runner up position, Julian coming through with a 3-0 victory.
I would like to take the opportunity to congratulate Julian on his victory and wish him well in Sheffield. I would also like to thank all of the players who participated in the event, the staff at QE1 Snooker Club and a really special thank you to Jim, Elsie and Judith for all their help in organizing the event and the use of the magnificent venue.![]()
